Peggy of the Cove

(Expression) The name given to the legendary young girl who was the only survivor of a shipwreck along the east coast of Nova Scotia during the mid 1800's. Unable to recall her past, her new family called her Peggy. As a result, the villagers named the now famous fishing village after her, Peggy's Cove.Usage: Folks for miles around would say, "Let's go see Peggy of the Cove."

Legend claims she was too young to remember her name, so the family who took care of her called her, Peggy. Eventually they named the small fishing village in her honor, Peggy's Cove
